THE EARTHQUAKE CRISIS IN HAITI, by Victor Baines

May God bless the vicitims of the earthquake in Haiti. Words alone can’t describe the hellish turmoil of life in Port-Au Prince since the occurance of the earthquake. According to a new study by the Inter-American Development Bank, the quake damage could reach the sum of almost 13 billion dollars (more than most people thought it would).

I hope that the American government pays close attention to its activities in Haiti because it allow the United States to take a close look at dealing with the aftermath of earthquakes. In this way–someday in the future when there’s a devastating earthquake in California or the New Madrid fault-line, we will knowledgeable and expereinced in dealing with this type of crisis.

The idea of a huge earthquake occuring in the United States at some point in the future is unpleasant–but highly probable.
